Traditional Music 7 nights a week
The Pucan bar is located just off Eyre Square on Forster Street. It has a well deserved reputation as a great Traditional Irish music venue. You can hear live music here 7 nights a week in the intimate surroundings and sometimes they also host Irish dancing displays.
The Pucan takes its name from a class of Galway Hooker boat one of which has been beautifully restored and integrated into the pub as both a seating area and a stage for live music. Inside it is one of the most intricately decorated pubs in Galway with all kinds of photos, musical instruments and memorabilia lining the walls. The Pucan is very popular with tourists keen to soak up some Irish pub culture. The bar is also very popular with native Irish speakers from around the County. There are lots of different styles of seating so whether you are in a large group or going solo you will be able to relax comfortably.
The Pucan also contains a restaurant that serves food all day and is one of the best places in the City to get a “Full Irish” breakfast. The portions are large and the food hearty in keeping with Irish tradition.
The Pucan is a good place for those looking to sample a traditional Irish pub.
