One of Galway City’s most unusual bars, De Burgos is a stunningly beautiful venue. Located in former underground wine cellars, it bears the name of an Anglo Norman family who were involved in the founding of the City. Hidden away on Augustine Street, De Burgos is an underground venue in every sense of the word. Playing host to diverse events such as comedy nights, live music and eclectic DJ’s, it has a unique set of acoustics due to its thick stone walls and curved ceilings. This place is something of an undiscovered gem in our opinion and you won’t find many tourists straying in here. It is particularly busy in De Burgos during the Arts Festival when it has an electric atmosphere.Watch out for advertisements of club nights
This atmospheric venue is an ideal place for a romantic drink if that’s what you are in for and the low lighting and candles can’t but help set the mood. They also have a convenient smoking area at the rear of the pub. A visit to De Burgo’s is essential.
